Job Description:

You’ll work on a small team of engineers and with an embedded product designer to build the front end of our various web applications most of which of designed to allow customers to configure and order our products.

Our client has porous boundaries between teams – we encourage people to collaborate across roles to help find the best solutions possible.

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable services within our platform.
  • Develop web applications with an eye towards simplicity, usability, and performance.
  • Work collaboratively with technical and business team members to design, develop, and maintain web applications serving the needs of photographers.
  • Strive for a strong and consistent client experience for all who use the Platform.

Position Requirements:

  • Have experience with some of these:
  • JavaScript, TypeScript
  • React/Redux, Vue, Angular, Storybook, twig
  • CSS
  • Git/Github, MongoDB
  • Rendering, interaction, and animation techniques using Canvas, SVG, WebGL
  • Photography, art, or printing
  • Feel comfortable writing, reviewing, and testing code.
  • Enjoy pushing the boundaries of what is possible in the browser and stay up-to-with the latest JS and CSS techniques.
  • Have interest in the fields of image manipulation, photography, print, math, and geometry.
  • Comfortable using new libraries or writing vanilla JavaScript by hand.
  • Have an eye for detail and get excited about collaborating directly with great UI designers.
  • Have an appreciation for great user experiences and an enthusiasm for impacting each user’s journey.
  • Care about performance and optimizing code to ensure performance and smooth interactions.
  • Communicate clearly and with empathy towards coworkers and clients.

Project Types:

  • This is primarily a frontend position; while there are opportunities for full stack work, most of the projects are primarily browser-based.
  • Building React-based editors for photography products such as holiday cards, various sizes of prints, photo albums, or even 3D image cubes.
  • Debugging and maintaining customer-facing tools for professional photographers as well as consumers.
  • Early-stage interaction prototypes, in collaboration with a designer, instead of static mock-ups.
  • Performant image manipulation.
  • Server-rendered Twig templates connected with JavaScript service layers which deliver HTML to pages.
  • Reviewing code written by yourself and other team members with an eye for heading off insidious bugs with comprehensive automated testing.
  • Designing and building the next generation of componentized, web-based photography design and editing tools.
